Time-saving describes something made or chosen so that a job takes less time: a time-saving device, time-saving tips, a time-saving change to the process. It is an adjective, and it normally sits in front of the noun. You would not usually say 'This method is very time-saving' — English speakers say 'This method saves a lot of time' instead. Keep that in mind: it is comfortable before a noun, stiff after 'is'. It carries approval, like does, and it turns up constantly in , in instruction manuals, and in business writing where someone is arguing for a new way of working. It can also be used as a noun meaning the saving itself ('a time-saving of about four hours'), but that use is formal and mostly British; a student can safely leave it alone. habits vary — time-saving and timesaving are both found, with the more usual.
