"Thermodynamic" is the adjective for anything to do with the relationship between heat and other kinds of energy — heat turning into movement, movement turning into heat, energy spreading out and never quite coming back. You meet it in phrases like "thermodynamic efficiency" (how much of the heat a machine actually turns into useful work), "thermodynamic properties", and "the second law of thermodynamics". The science itself is the plural noun "thermodynamics", and though it ends in -s, it takes a singular verb: "Thermodynamics is difficult", the same way "physics is" and "mathematics is". This is engineering and physics vocabulary — you will see it in textbooks, in articles about engines, power plants, refrigerators, and climate, and in the Chinese classroom as 熱力學. People also borrow it loosely to sound serious about limits: saying something is "thermodynamically impossible" is a heavy way of saying nature will not allow it.
組成thermo- + dynamic. Thermo- comes from Ancient Greek thermós, "heat"; dynamic goes back to Greek dúnamis, "power, force". So: heat-and-power.
