Tetchily is the adverb for doing or saying something in a bad-tempered, easily-annoyed way. It nearly always attaches to speaking: he answered tetchily, she said tetchily, 'What now?' he asked tetchily. Because of that, you will meet it most in novels and in news reports of interviews and meetings, where the writer wants you to hear the tone of voice — clipped, impatient, a bit rude — without saying the person was angry. The annoyance it describes is small and surface-level. Someone who replies tetchily is irritated by the question, not furious about their life. It also works with a few verbs of movement or action that carry mood: he pushed the papers aside tetchily. This is a writerly word. In speech people would say 'he snapped' or 'he said it in a really irritated way'. If you use it in an essay it will read as good, careful English; if you use it while chatting, it will sound like you have swallowed a book — which your friends may enjoy.

不耐煩地、沒好氣地（副詞）。多半接在「說」的動作後面：沒好氣地回一句、語帶不耐地問。屬於書面語，小說和新聞報導裡常見，聊天時一般會直接說「他很不爽地說」。
