The part of your character that decides how you tend to feel — whether you are usually calm or easily upset, cheerful or gloomy, quick to anger or slow. It is about your emotional weather, not about your skills or your morals. The important idea is that a temperament is thought of as something you are born with and carry through life, not something you chose or learned. That is why people talk about a baby's temperament, and why you hear "He has a gentle temperament" about a dog or a horse just as easily as about a person. Everybody has one, so it is not automatically bad — but on its own, "She has a temperament" or "a temperamental person" usually hints at a difficult, moody one, especially about artists and performers. You also meet fixed phrases: "be suited by temperament to something" means your nature fits the work.

From Middle French tempérament, from Latin temperāmentum.
源自中古法文 tempérament，來自拉丁文 temperāmentum。
組成From Latin temperamentum, a proper mixing, from temperare "to mix". This comes from the old medical idea that your nature depended on how four fluids in your body were mixed together — a good mix gave a good temperament.
