A meeting in which people who are in different places talk to each other at the same time, using the telephone, or video and computers.

The people are apart — three offices, three islands, three time zones — but a line is open between them, so when one person speaks the others hear it at that moment. The line may carry only voices, or faces as well. Take away the shared room, keep the shared moment: that is what the word is for.
