1. 1

A technological answer to a problem — building a machine or system to solve something instead of changing how people live, what the law allows, or how power is shared. Almost always, the word carries doubt. Calling something a technofix says: this looks like a solution, but it treats the symptom and leaves the real cause alone, and it may create new problems of its own. It shows up most in arguments about climate change — machines to pull carbon out of the air, or to cool the planet, offered instead of using less. "There is no technofix for over-consumption." So it is a noun ("a technofix", "technofixes") and it is a judgement. If you genuinely admire a technical solution, do not call it a technofix; call it a solution, or an innovation. The full form is "technological fix", which sounds more neutral and more formal. You will see it written technofix, -fix, and fix. All three appear; the is probably the most common in newspapers. This word belongs to opinion writing, environmental debate, and journalism rather than to casual talk.

    科技萬靈丹、用技術手段草草解決問題。多半帶貶意,指「只治標不治本」——尤其在氣候議題上,用來批評那種「等新科技來救」而不改變生活方式的想法。
