1. 1

The short form of the Test and County Cricket Board — for many years the body that ran professional cricket in England: the national team that plays Test matches, and the county clubs that play each other in the domestic league. You would meet these four letters mainly in British sports writing and older news reports. It matters that this is history: the TCCB stopped existing in 1997, when its work passed to the England and Wales Cricket Board (the ECB). So if you see TCCB today, you are almost certainly reading something written before then, or something looking back. Outside Britain, and outside cricket, almost nobody knows what the letters stand for.
