A taxiway is the paved road at an airport that aircraft drive along on their own wheels to get between the terminal gates and the runway. Keep the two apart in your mind: the runway is where a plane takes off and lands at high speed, and the taxiway is the slower connecting road that leads to and from it. When you are sitting in a plane and it moves slowly for several minutes, turning corners, sometimes stopping and waiting — that is the taxiway, and the verb for that movement is 'to taxi'. A big airport has many taxiways, each with a letter name (Taxiway A, Taxiway Bravo) that the control tower uses to tell each pilot which way to go. It is a technical word from aviation, so you will meet it in air-safety news, in flight simulators, and from pilots and airport staff rather than in ordinary talk — but any who wants to understand what the captain is saying will find it useful.
