A picture or word permanently drawn into the skin using needles and ink - very common today as a form of art or self-expression. There's an older, less common meaning too: a 'tattoo' can be a public performance of military music and marching, usually with drums, done in the evening.

組成Comes from a Dutch word 'taptoe', meaning something like 'turn off the tap' - it was the drumbeat signal telling soldiers in a pub to stop drinking and return to camp for the night. That old military signal is why 'tattoo' can also mean a military music show.
