Two things are synchronous if they happen at the same time, or run at the same speed and stay together. It is a formal, technical word — an engineer, a scientist or a teacher writing a course description will use it, while an ordinary speaker just says 'at the same time'. You meet it most in computing and in education. In computing, a synchronous task waits: the program does one thing, finishes it, and only then starts the next — the opposite, '', lets it start something and get on with other work while it waits. In teaching, a 'synchronous class' means everybody is online together at the same hour, and an ' class' means you watch the recording whenever you like. That pair became everyday school vocabulary during the years of online lessons, so if you study in English you will see both. Note the ordinary short verb is 'synchronise' (or 'sync'), and the common adjective from it is 'synchronised' — 'synchronised swimming', not 'synchronous swimming'.
