If you are susceptible to something, it can affect or hurt you more easily than it affects other people. A doctor might say a patient is "susceptible to infection," meaning their body catches it easily. A plant can be "susceptible to" a disease the same way. It also works for feelings: someone "susceptible to flattery" is easily influenced by nice words, and someone "susceptible to pressure" gives in easily. The word almost always needs "to" after it, plus whatever the person or thing is open to. It sounds a bit formal or medical — in everyday talk people often just say "easily affected" or "easily influenced" instead.

From Late Latin susceptibilis, from Latin susceptus, from suscipiō.

組成From Latin roots meaning "able to take up underneath" — the idea of something ready to receive whatever comes at it. Students don't need this history to use the word, but it explains why "to" always follows.
