1. 1

A stylus is a thin, pointed tool. Today it usually means one of two things: the small pen-like tool you use to write or draw on a touchscreen instead of your finger, or the needle-like part of a record player that sits in the groove of a vinyl record and picks up the sound. Long ago, a stylus was also the pointed tool ancient people used to write on wax or clay tablets.
