To stroll is to walk slowly, easily, for pleasure rather than to get somewhere. The speed is the whole point: a person who strolls is not late, not worried, and probably looking around. You stroll along a river, through a night market, around a park after dinner. It is also a noun — go for a stroll, take a stroll — and that noun is very common, often with a soft word in front: a gentle stroll, a stroll, an evening stroll. The word has a pleasant, feeling, so people use it in tourist writing and in invitations ("shall we have a stroll?"). There is a second, sharper use, especially in sport and news: if a team strolls to victory, or a candidate strolls into the job, it means they won so easily that it looked like no effort at all — almost lazily. That use can be a small insult to whoever lost. There is also stroller, which in American English is the seat you push a baby in (British English says ).
組成Borrowed from German strollen, a variant of Alemannic German strolchen, from Strolch 'vagabond, rascal' — so the word began with the idea of someone wandering about with nowhere to be.
