Tall, well-shaped and impressive to look at — like a statue. It is almost always used about a woman's body and the way she stands or moves, and it carries the idea of height and calm dignity, not just beauty. A statuesque woman is someone people notice when she walks into a room. It is a compliment, but a slightly formal, writerly one; you meet it in novels, fashion writing and film reviews far more often than in daily speech. It can also be used about a building, a tree, or a person standing very still, when you want to say something looks grand and unmoving. Be a little careful with that second flavour: because statues do not move, calling someone statuesque can hint at — beautiful but not warm — depending on the sentence around it.
