英式:政府養的免費中小學
錢由國家出,所以家長不用付學費——這是「公家付帳」最直接的一種。
noun · B1
In British English, a school that is paid for by the government, so children can study there without their parents paying fees.
公立學校
A school with a sign on the gate saying that the government pays the bills. State school is not about what the school looks like or what it teaches; it is about where the money comes from. Because the government that pays is a different one on each side of the Atlantic, the same two words land on different schools: in Britain a free school for children, in the US a college or university that its own state helps to fund.
