- 1椋鳥（八哥科的親戚）。台灣街上很常見的白頭翁、八哥不是同一種，但那種吵鬧、成群、會學聲音的印象很接近，可以先這樣抓感覺。
A medium-small bird, about the size of your hand, with dark feathers that look plain black from far away but shine green and purple when the light hits them, often with pale spots. Starlings live close to people — in cities, on wires, on rooftops, in parks — and they are noisy, bold and clever, good at copying other birds' calls and even phone rings. What they are most famous for is flying in huge groups at : thousands of them turning together like smoke changing shape, which has its own English name, a murmuration. In many places they are loved as a sight and disliked as neighbours, because a big flock is loud and messy. Note that despite the spelling, the bird has nothing to do with stars.
組成From Old English stær, an old word that simply meant this bird, plus the ending -ling. So it is 'little stær' — the bird's own old name with a small-thing ending, not star + -ling.
