Sped is the past tense of the verb speed, meaning moved somewhere very fast. 'The car sped down the road' means the car went down the road very quickly. It is also used with 'up' — 'sped up' means became faster, or made something go faster. English actually keeps two past-tense forms for speed: sped (for moving fast) and speeded (used mainly in 'speeded up' in British English, and always in 'speeding,' the crime of driving too fast). In everyday talk, 'sped' is the one you will hear most.
(speed 的過去式)飛快前進;加速
組成speed (to move fast) + -d, with the vowel changing from 'ee' to 'e' — an irregular past-tense pattern, similar to how feed becomes fed.
