1. 1

The system of teaching music in which each note of the scale gets a short sung name — do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti — instead of a letter or a position on the page. Sing those and you are doing sol-fa.

Sol-fa首調唱名法 is the system of teaching music是一種教音樂的方式 in which each note of the scale gets a short sung name音階裡每一個音都有一個簡短的唱名,do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti — instead of a letter or a position on the page而不是用字母或譜上的位置。Sing those syllables你唱出這些音節 and you are doing sol-fa就是在做 sol-fa。

The full name is 'tonic sol-fa', and the point of it is that the names move: 'do' is not fixed to one pitch but to whichever note the piece is built on, so a tune sounds the same in sol-fa whatever key it is played in.

The full name完整的名稱 is是 'tonic sol-fa' 首調唱名法,and the point of it這個方法的重點 is that the names move在於這些唱名是會移動的:'do'「do」 is not fixed to one pitch並不是固定在某一個音高上,but to whichever note the piece is built on而是取決於這首曲子是建立在哪個音上,so a tune sounds the same in sol-fa whatever key it is played in所以不管用什麼調演奏,用首調唱名唱出來聽起來都一樣。

That makes it a tool for hearing and singing rather than for reading printed notes, which is why it is used so much with children and in choirs.

That這 makes it a tool for hearing and singing讓它成為一種用來聽和唱的工具 rather than for reading printed notes而不是用來看譜的, which is why it is used so much with children and in choirs這也是為什麼它常常用在小朋友身上和合唱團裡。

It works as a noun ('she learned sol-fa at school'), and also as a verb, 'to sol-fa a tune' — to sing it using those . The system as English speakers know it was developed in the 1800s by John Curwen, building on much older Italian practice.

It它 works as a noun可以當名詞用 ('she learned sol-fa at school'「她在學校學了首調唱名法」), and also as a verb也可以當動詞用, 'to sol-fa a tune'「唱名一首曲子」 — to sing it using those syllables也就是用那些音節把它唱出來。The system這個系統 as English speakers know it英語系國家所知道的樣子 was developed in the 1800s是在十九世紀 by John Curwen由約翰.庫爾溫發展出來的, building on much older Italian practice是根據更古老的義大利傳統加以發展的。

Many people meet it first through 'Do-Re-Mi' in The Sound of Music without ever learning its name.

Many people很多人 meet it first最早接觸到它 through 'Do-Re-Mi' in The Sound of Music是透過《真善美》裡的〈Do-Re-Mi〉這首歌 without ever learning its name卻從來不知道它的名字。

sol-fanoun

  • 1

a method of sight singing music that uses the syllables do (originally ut), re, mi, fa, sol (or so), la, and si (or ti) to represent the pitches of the scale, most commonly the major scale. The fixed-do system uses do for C, and the movable-do system uses do for whatever key the melody uses (thus B is do if the piece is in the key of B).

sol-faverb

  • 1

    To sing a sol-fa
