A sleepwalker is a person who gets out of bed and walks around while they are still asleep. Their eyes may be open, which is why it looks so strange — they are not awake in the ordinary way, they may do simple things like go to the door, and in the morning they often remember nothing. The condition is called sleepwalking; it is most common in children, and many grow out of it. You should not shake them hard or make a drama of it; people who know the child usually speak softly and guide them back to bed. Though actually, people also use sleepwalker in a loose, joking way about someone who looks half-asleep at school or who moves through the day without thinking. That is not the real meaning. The real meaning is the night-time one.
