    Slangy describes language that is full of slang, or that sounds like the informal talk of a group. A slangy letter, a slangy joke, a slangy way of speaking: the words are casual, in-group, sometimes rough. It is an adjective, so it names the style, not the set of words itself (that set is slang). Though actually, people also say a person is slangy when they mean that person talks that way a lot. It is informal and a little judging: a teacher might call an essay slangy as a warning that the tone is too loose for school. It does not always mean the language is offensive; it can just mean it is very casual. Compared with informal, slangy points more sharply at slang words and slang rhythm.
