    A skylight is a window set into the roof, so daylight comes down from above instead of in from a wall. You find them in top-floor rooms, , art studios, and old factories — anywhere the roof is the only place left for a window. Some are just glass and stay shut; some tilt open for air. House ads love them because a dark attic can suddenly feel like a real room. Though actually, builders sometimes split hairs: a “roof window” may be one you can climb out of, and a “skylight” one that is only there for light. In ordinary talk, people call both skylights. It is a calm, everyday word, not slang and not fancy.

組成From sky + light. Sky is the open air above; light is the brightness that comes through.
