Skegness is a seaside town on the east coast of England, in Lincolnshire, looking out on the North Sea. For a long time it has been a popular day-trip and holiday place, especially for working-class families from the Midlands and other inland parts of central England — cheap trains, beach, amusements, fish and chips, and holiday camps. English people sometimes it to “Skeggy.” The name is a place, so it takes a capital letter. In British talk it can carry a , not-fancy holiday picture; that is social colour, not an insult you should copy unless you know the joke.
