A singer-songwriter is one person who the songs and also sings them. It is not two jobs split between two people. You hear the word a lot in folk, pop, and quieter indie music: a guitar or a piano, and a voice that made the words. Though actually, many famous singers only sing songs other people wrote; this label marks the ones who do both. In a band, it often sticks to the person who and sings the lead. Keep the : it ties the two roles into one job title.
