When people simulcast a show, they send the same programme out at the same moment on two or more kinds of media — television and radio, or television and the internet, for example. You can also simulcast a live event: the match or the speech is happening now, and more than one channel carries it now, not later as a recording. The extra broadcast itself can be called a simulcast: “watch the simulcast online.” It is a media word. News people, sports channels, and streaming apps use it; you would not use it for two friends talking at once. Though actually, companies sometimes say simulcast when one feed is a few seconds behind another. The tidy idea is “exactly together,” but real broadcasts are a little looser. Do not hear simul- as simulate. This is not a fake broadcast. It is a same-time broadcast.
