    The SIB was the Securities and Investments Board — a British office that watched over firms selling shares and other investments. It was set up in the 1980s and did that job through the 1990s. Britain later gave the work to a new regulator, so the SIB is a name you meet in older news and law, not a board that still sits in London. You say it letter by letter: S-I-B. It has nothing to do with the small word sib meaning “related by blood.”
