To shuck something is to pull off its outer cover so you can get at what is inside. You shuck corn: you tear away the green leaves and the silk until the yellow kernels show. You also shuck oysters: you open the hard shell and take out the meat. This is kitchen and farm talk, more American than British, and it is not fancy. The cover itself can be called a shuck — the husk or shell you throw away. Though actually, people stretch the verb a little: you can shuck off a coat, meaning take it off fast, as if you were peeling a husk. That still has the same picture: the outer thing coming off.

組成Origin unknown. Some scholars guess it is an old, small form of a word for "shell" or "husk" — perhaps a diminutive, like a little shell — but that is only a guess, not a sure split you can see in the spelling today.
