A shtick is the style of humour a comic or actor is known for — the bit they do again and again, the way of being funny that people come to expect from them. One person's shtick might be playing the fool; another's might be talking very fast, or always complaining, or always acting shy. You will hear it a lot in American English, especially around shows and comedy. Though actually, people stretch it. "That's his shtick" can mean "that's the thing he always does," even when it is not a joke — a politician's shtick, a teacher's shtick. It is informal. It is not always kind, either: if you say someone is doing their shtick, you can mean they are not fresh this time, just running the old act.
組成Borrowed from Yiddish shtik, "a piece" or "an act." Same old family of words as German Stück and Dutch stuk, both meaning "piece." In English it is not built from smaller English parts. Scholars also treat it as a doublet of the rare words shtuka, steck, and styca — same deep root, different roads into English.
