Shrimping is the activity of catching shrimp — with nets in shallow water, from a boat, or along a shore. People do it for dinner, for a job, or as a coastal hobby. The form is the -ing of the verb to shrimp. Though actually, it is not the same picture as sitting in a Taiwan shrimp pond with a rod. English shrimping is usually out in the sea, a bay, or a marsh, hunting wild shrimp. You will hear it in travel writing, fishing news, and family stories from places with a shrimp coast.
