Showrooming is when you go into a real shop, look closely at a thing — touch it, try it on, ask questions — and then buy the same thing on the internet, usually for less money. The shop has been used as a free , and the sale goes elsewhere. Shops dislike it, for obvious reasons. The opposite habit is sometimes called webrooming: look online first, then buy in the shop. This is business and newspaper English from the last couple of decades, not old dictionary English. It is not the job of working in a , and it is not simple window-shopping, because the point is the later online purchase.
