Shh is less a word you build sentences with and more a sound you make at people. You push out a long, quiet “shhhh,” and it means “be quiet, right now.” A parent uses it in a library or a cinema; a teacher uses it when the class is too loud; you might use it with a friend who is about to spoil a surprise. You can write it sh, shh, or shhh — all the same idea. It is informal. You would not put it in a serious letter. Though actually, it can also be a tiny noun: there was a shh from the back of the room. It comes from hush, and it likely copies the real sound people make when they want silence.
