Sheraton is a style of furniture made in Britain around 1800, after the designs of Thomas Sheraton. The look is light and graceful: straight legs, clean lines, pale wood, and small inlaid patterns, not heavy carving. People still use the name in antique shops and design books: a Sheraton chair, Sheraton-style. It is a specialist word, not everyday talk. Though actually, many people hear Sheraton and think of the hotel chain first — that is a different thing that merely shares the name.
