Sexting is sending sexual text messages, or sexual pictures of yourself, to someone on a phone. The word is a blend of sex and texting, and it is informal — young people and the news both use it. The verb is to sext. It can be between adults who both want it, but it can also get people into serious trouble, especially if the pictures involve anyone under 18, or if a picture is passed on without permission. Though actually, some people stretch it to any flirty message, even with no photo; others keep it for the photo. It is a 2000s phone word. It has nothing to do with sexton or , which only look similar on the page.
