Sewerage is the system: the sewers, the pumps, and the works that treat the waste so it is less harmful before it goes back to a river or the sea. If sewage is the dirty water, sewerage is the network that takes it away and deals with it. This is a more technical word. City planners and news about and treatment plants use it; everyday talk often just says “the sewers” or “the sewage system.” British English likes to keep sewage and sewerage apart. American English often lets sewage cover both, though actually careful writers still split them. You would not pour sewerage; you build it, it, or pay for it.
