A servo is a machine part that takes a small movement or signal and turns it into a stronger, controlled movement. It does not just spin blindly: it is built to follow an order, such as 'turn this far and hold it there.' You find servos in robot joints, radio-control cars, camera gimbals and aircraft. Engineers often mean a servomotor when they say servo; the short form is the everyday workshop word. This is technical talk, not casual English. Though actually, in Australian English a servo is also a petrol station, from service station — same spelling, different word. This entry is the machine part.
