A send-up is a film, article, show, or sketch that copies a person, a style, or another work in order to make it look funny or a bit silly. It is teasing, not a careful lesson. The copy has to be close enough that you recognise the original, then it tips into a joke. The word is especially British; American speakers more often say parody or , and in Taiwan students will hear 惡搞 for the same idea. A send-up can be kind or sharp. It is informal, the language of reviews and chat about TV, not of a contract. Do not mix it up with other uses of send up: in older British slang, to send someone up could also mean to send them to prison. That is not this noun.
