A send-off is a party or a small gathering when people meet to say goodbye to someone who is leaving — a new job, another country, retirement, even a long trip. It can be cake in the office, a dinner, or a few friends at the airport. The feeling is warm: we are sending you off well. The word is everyday English, not stiff, and not slang. You can also give someone a send-off with words alone, a short speech at the door, though the picture in most ’ books is a real occasion. In sport, British English uses send off as a verb for a player made to leave the field; that is a different thing, and the noun for the party still wants the : a send-off.
send-off 指大家為了要離開的人辦的聚會或小型集會，像是有人換工作、搬去另一個國家、退休，甚至只是出遠門。形式可能是辦公室的一塊蛋糕、一頓晚餐，或幾個朋友在機場送行。它的感覺很溫暖，意思是我們把你好好地送出去。這個詞是很日常的英文，不生硬，也不是俚語。
