Sen is a small unit of money used in some Asian countries, worth much less than the main unit — for example, in Japan, 100 sen used to equal 1 yen, and in Indonesia, 100 sen equals 1 rupiah. It's similar to how 'cent' is a small part of a dollar. Sen isn't really used in everyday spending anymore in most places, since it's worth so little, but you may still see the word in older prices, banking, or history.
