Seltzer is water with little bubbles in it — fizzy water, with no sweet flavour and usually no extra salt. In the United States people order a seltzer the way someone here might ask for plain 氣泡水. Older American cities, especially New York, treated it as an everyday drink, sometimes from a bottle with a siphon. Though actually, not every bubbly drink is seltzer: tonic water has a bitter taste from , and club soda has minerals added on purpose; seltzer is the plain bubbly one. British English more often says sparkling water or soda water. The name comes from a German village, Selters, famous for springs that came out of the ground already fizzy.
