- 1任性的；一意孤行的
A self-willed person is very determined to do what they want, whatever other people think — and the speaker does not like it. It is an adjective of , closer to stubborn or than to independent. It is a little old-fashioned; many people now just say stubborn. You can use it about children who will not be told, and about adults who refuse to listen. Though actually, the same behaviour can look like courage from the inside and like self-will from the outside — the word tells you how the speaker feels. The noun is self-will. English also once had ānwille, literally "one-willed", for the same idea.
