A self-addressed envelope already has your own address written on it as the place to send it. You post it to someone — a company, an office, a person — they put a reply inside, and they can send it straight back to you without looking up where you live. In older paper-form days this was very common; people often also stuck a stamp on it, and then it was a self-addressed stamped envelope, or . The 'self' is you, the person who wants the reply. Though actually, it is easy to picture the envelope addressing itself — it doesn't; you wrote the address. The word is a bit formal and office-like, and less needed now that so many replies come by email.
self-addressed 用在信封上，表示信封上已經寫好你自己的地址。你寄給對方後，對方把回覆放進去，就能直接寄回給你，不用再查你住在哪裡。這裡的 self 就是你，也就是想收到回覆的人。地址不是信封自己寫的，是你先寫上去的。以前紙本時代很常見，常再貼上郵票，變成「a self-addressed stamped envelope」。語氣比較正式、像公文，現在很多回覆改用電子郵件，所以用得比較少了。
