If a material or surface is see-through, you can look through it and see what is on the other side. Clear glass is see-through; a thin shirt can be see-through too, which is why people use the word a lot about clothes. Transparent is the more formal twin; see-through is the everyday one, especially for fabric. Though actually, people also say it for plastic boxes, curtains, and even makeup. Written with a when it sits in front of a noun (a see-through ). Do not mix this adjective with the verb see through: “I can see through his story” means you understand the trick, and “I'll see you through this” means I will help you until it ends. Those are different words that happen to look the same on the page.
