    A seagull is a large bird, usually grey or white, that lives near the sea. You see them on beaches and in harbours, crying loudly, walking after fishing boats, and watching people's food. They are not shy. Though actually, the careful name is just ; seagull is the everyday word, and not every lives by the sea — some spend a lot of time inland, by lakes or rubbish dumps, because that is where the food is. People sometimes use seagull in a joking way for someone who swoops in and takes what they want, but that is slang. This word, here, is the bird.
