A scribbler is a writer, but the word does not praise them. It suggests they write a lot, or write quickly, and that the writing is not important — a minor journalist, a cheap novelist, someone filling pages. People also use it about themselves, with a small smile: “I'm just a scribbler.” Built from scribble, it still carries the picture of messy, writing. It is informal, and it can sound if you aim it at someone who takes their work seriously. It is not a job title you would put on a card.
