A screenwriter the story and the talking for a film or a television show. They write a script: who says what, and often what we are meant to see. They are not the director, who tells people where to stand and how to play the scene, and they are not an actor — though actually one person can do more than one of those jobs, especially on a small film. The older word for someone who for the theatre is . Screenwriter is the screen job. People in the business also say ; the two are very close. It is a normal job word, not slang and not fancy.
