"Scooped" is the past tense of "scoop" - lifting or moving something, usually soft or loose, with a curved tool or your cupped hand, in one smooth motion. You might say someone "scooped" ice cream into a bowl, or "scooped up" a crying child to comfort them. It has a second, very different meaning in journalism: if a news reporter "scooped" a story, it means they got and published important news before every other reporter did - a proud, achievement for a journalist.
