    Sci-fi is a short, everyday way to say science fiction: stories about the future, space, other worlds, made-up science, robots, time travel. People use it as a name for the whole kind of story (“I love sci-fi”) and as a describing word (“a sci-fi film”). It feels informal and friendly. On a serious book cover, or in a university class, you may still see the full words science fiction. The little is normal: sci-fi. Some fans argue about what counts as “real” sci-fi and what is only a space adventure with no science in it; in ordinary talk, people are much looser, and a film with often gets the label anyway.
