The scapula is one of the two large, flat bones on each side of your upper back — the bone you can feel if you reach over your shoulder. Doctors and anatomy books say scapula; everyday English almost always says shoulder blade. You have two of them, left and right, and they are roughly triangular. They sit on the back, not at the front of the neck. The word is at home in a clinic, a PE injury report, or a biology class, not in the playground. From Late Latin scapula, which meant “shoulder.”
