A Scandinavian is a person from that northern European area. This sense includes Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and usually Finland and Iceland too. As with , that is a wide English use. Some people, and many people who live there, keep Scandinavian for Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, and say Nordic for the bigger family. The word is also an adjective: Scandinavian design, a Scandinavian winter. The languages of Norway, Sweden, and Denmark sit close; Finnish is from a different family, which is one reason Finland sits in this word. Icelandic is related to those Scandinavian languages, but Iceland is more often named among the Nordic countries. You can say "the Scandinavians" for the people as a group.
