A SASE is an envelope on which you have already written your own name and address, and already stuck a stamp, so that someone else can put something in it and post it back to you. The letters stand for self-addressed stamped envelope. It is everyday American English, especially for contests, fan mail, and sending papers to a magazine: “Please a SASE.” In Britain, people more often say SAE. It is practical post-office language, not emotional. Though actually, as more things happen by email, young people meet the word less; you still see it on older forms and in notes to writers.
