Sardonically is how someone smiles, speaks, or looks when they are being sardonic. If a person answers sardonically, they are not being kind; they are showing they think the question, or the person, is beneath them. Same feeling as sardonic, just used with a verb. You will see it in stories and scripts more than in everyday chat. Do not use it to mean “in a funny way” — the humour, if any, is bitter.
